Mancos Valley Arts Council

The mission of the Mancos Valley Arts Council is to provide enriching art experiences and education that reflect the needs and culture of the Mancos Valley community. Mancos is full of talented artists in so many fields: painting, sculpture, pastels, glass art, wood turning, furniture making, door carving, metal smything, saddle making, flute making, hat making, photography, block printing, calligraphy, jewelry, gourd art, fabric arts, and musicians, composers, actors, singers, dancers, writers, authors, story tellers, and cowboy poets. MVAC strives to bring visitor and town awareness to the talents that reside in and around Mancos.

Year round exhibits of artwork and items of cultural significance are shown at the Town Gallery in the Mancos Visitors Center. MVAC sponsors a summer Mancos Studio Tour with artists doing demonstrations all day at the three major galleries in downtown Mancos as well as artists opening their studios in and around the Mancos Valley.

Our Arts Festival and Street Fair, always the Saturday of the Mancos Balloon Festival in September, brings artists, musicians, entertainers, and great food to Grand Avenue and Main. MVAC strives to support the arts in Mancos by contributing grants and donations to special events, activities, or educational programs related to all arts.

To join, please send $20 to MVAC, P.O. Box 864, Mancos, CO 81328.
